First E&P is currently engaged in the development of the Anyala and Madu fields located in OML 83 & 85 offshore Nigeria. Once complete, phase one of this development will include the installation of two conductor supported platforms (CSP) connected to the Abigail-Joseph FPSO. Anyala will be connected to the FPSO via a 100 m dynamic flexible riser while Madu (22km away) will export through a rigid pipeline with flexible dynamic riser at the FPSO.
Unfortunately, the development of Anyala and Madu has been delayed, which has resulted in the need for the flexible risers and spools already installed to be wet-stored (flooded with seawater) in their current configuration. It has however been predicted that the delay may result in the flexible risers been wet stored for a period of at least 6 months longer the manufacturers guidelines.
As a result of this challenge First E&P approached Brisktrade Offshore, to conduct a risk assessment to determine the threats to the flexible risers in accordance with API 17B, and identify associated mitigations strategies to reduce the risks to acceptable levels. The risk assessment will ensure that the risers remain fit for purpose following the period of wet storage.
